Big city, lots of traffic and some impressive sites to visit. One of the best is the Colosseum, a massive structure that has stood the test of time despite what’s been done to it. After pagan Rome became Christian Rome the church kept robbing the Colosseum of marble to use on churches. This old structure, complete with elevators to bring animals and gladiators to the surface, is still pretty amazing and well worth touring.
There are other old structures in the area, and one can wander among them, getting the feel of a time and a great civilization long gone but never to be forgotten. The Romans were law givers, builders and record keepers, all things we have inherited from them.
There is also the Parthanon, another historic structure that one can visit.
Within Rome but not part of it is the Vatican, which will be the subject of another post.
