Elephant Seals popular with visitors

Near San Simeon and next to the Piedras Blancas light station, the Elephant Seals have taken over several beaches. From zero in 1992 to hundreds today, they’re transposed an almost deserted beach, a place I’ve launched my kayak,  to a place with a huge parking lot and a fenced off beach. You can stand along the fence and be very close to these very large and unfortunately quite smelly creatures. The males spar in the shallows, while the females lounge on the beach with there babies. While in the area arrange to tour the old light station. If nothing else, the view from the top of the light is incredible. This is a very scenic section of coast, so bring your camera.
