This historic inn was built in 1929-30, designed by Julia Morgan and commissioned by WR Hearst. The rooms are lovely and inexpensive, and the location gives the visitor access to some of the most lovely wildflower displays in the spring, as well as Mission San Antonio. Only trouble is lack of a good restaurant. However the bar is open some days and does serve food. Otherwise, there is a gas BBQ out back, and it’s a joy to cook overlooking fields of wildflowers.
