Mount Lassen, snowy July

One would think that going to Lassen National park in July would assure open trails and a lack of snow. Not so, particularly after the last, hard winter. There was too much snow to make the peak a safe hike and Bumpass Hell was closed. We did, however find some great hikes. Mill Creek Falls was beautiful, but a grueling hike. Echo Lake trail took us to a ridge where we got a great panoramic view, and Paradise Meadow was quite something, but doing the uphill in the morning made the hike far more pleasant. Then there was Diamond Peak, no trail, just a scramble up the hill.  Next time, August would make more sense.
